Dunkirk port authority has chosen APM Terminals to run its container terminal NFTI-ou. APM Terminals is a subsidiary of transport giant AP Moller-Maersk and ranks number three in container handling worldwide.
There is enough room for other partners in NFTI-ou, although CGA-CGM currently represents 50 per cent of the activity at the terminal, following its recent acquisition of Delmas.
The authority wants Dunkirk to become a hub for the supply of fresh produce to northern Europe and particularly the UK. Maybe as a sign of things to come, Norfolkline announced it is to renew its cross Channel float : the three new boats are said to be bigger and faster, the first one “Maersk-Dunkerque” due for end October.
