Dole Europe is expanding into soft fruit after a successful trial in Italy in 2009.
The company is looking to offer strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, gooseberries and blackcurrants with full European coverage by the end of the year.
Jean-Christophe Juilliard, president of Dole Europe, said he is looking for reliable sources in Europe and the southern hemisphere. “Dole’s know-how and expertise are fully applicable on berries, which are fragile products and require very special care and very careful attention all along the entire chain, from the source to our customers.”
The Italian berry trial ran last year when Dole sourced produce from Italian growers as well as from Spain and South America to supply to customers in Italy.
