Creed Catering Supplies has acquired Gloucestershire-based speciality foods wholesaler Cardston Ltd, which trades as Mise en Place.

The 24-year-old firm, based in Cirencester, has provided speciality foods, as well as fresh fruit and vegetables, to some of the best catering establishments in the Cotswolds.

Creed Catering Supplies will launch its local and speciality food range later this year.

Former Mise en Place managing director Stephen Wheeler, who bought the business in 1994, will continue to manage the business as sales and operations director.

Wheeler, who trained as a chef, has built the business based on developing long-term relationships with both customers and suppliers. He said: “Mise en Place will continue to operate as a stand-alone business, our philosophy of providing great quality and service will of course continue, but with the added benefit of Creed’s expertise.”

Chris Creed, managing director of Creed Catering Supplies, added: “These are exciting times as our business continues to grow. This is a natural extension for us as part of our exciting strategic expansion, and is something that our customers would like us to offer, it means we can now offer our customers a range of excellent-quality fruit and vegetables, as well as speciality and local foods, available for next-day delivery, six days a week.

“Fresh produce is something we have been looking at for a while,” he continues. “After considerable research, we have found the ideal partner in Mise en Place, with a fantastic offer, which compliments our existing and comprehensive range of multi-temperature products. Our customers can now source everything they need from us, knowing that it will be delivered on time and in perfect condition.”
