Bolton-based food-service supplier Coopers Produce has secured a new contract to supply salads into High Street department store, British Home Stores (BHS).

As part of the contract, Coopers will supply all 131 BHS in-store restaurants and 45 ‘to-go’ sandwich outlets with salads, including tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, mushroom, as well as a variety of fruit.

The company will deliver the fresh produce to the BHS central distribution centre in Atherstone, Warwickshire, five days a week, which BHS will deliver directly to its nation-wide stores on a daily basis. The centre is ‘stockless’ so all produce goes out on arrival.

Kate Watson from Food Services at BHS said: “At BHS, quality is key and we ensure all fresh produce used within our restaurants is of the highest quality. Our food service team is relatively small, so we need to work with suppliers that are robust enough to support our supply chain and provide the highest quality produce.

“After visiting the Coopers Produce distribution centre and warehouse, we were very impressed with the overall package; in particular the impeccable quality of the produce. The experienced team at Coopers has taken the time to truly understand our business, what our customers want and, in turn become a strategic partner.”
