A record number of people visited the Chester Food and Drink Festival, organisers have reported.

This year's event, which came to an end over the Easter bank holiday weekend, saw thousands of visitors trying out the delicacies on show, according to the Liverpool Daily Post.

Local conventional and organic produce were among the attractions on offer, while celebrity chef Simon Rimmer offered cookery demonstrations on the opening day of the festival

Rimmer was reported as saying: "Cheshire and the north-west is the best part of the world for food, with fantastic food producers, brilliant people and produce."
