Love is in the air at Sainsbury’s this month with the launch of a romantic competition to promote Northwest Cherries.
Customers can be in with a chance of winning a £2,500 diamond ring by sharing details of their most romantic moment. Ten runners-up will receive £100 jeweller’s vouchers.
The retailer said the theme of the two-week promotion is inspired by an association between love and cherries. They say even Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream associates cherries with love and romance, and shopping is an ideal place to meet the love of your life.
Carefully selected and handpicked in Washington State, US, the cherries have a low glycaemic index (GI) of about 30, are naturally low in fat, sodium free and a good source of fibre and vitamin C. The cherries are available in 400g punnets priced at £2.99.
