Branston restructures development department

Branston promoted Vidyanath Gururajan to group head of development and projects, following the restructure of its development department.

The move is a result of the increasing investment in innovation made by the potato supplier.

Gururajan - known throughout the potato industry as “Vee” - will focus on innovative best practice across all areas of operations and be responsible for the co-ordination of operational capital projects, working alongside the general managers.

He will chair the group environmental forum, to identify carbon-producing hot-spots and develop and implement carbon reduction plans, as he was instrumental in delivering the carbon footprint labelling programme for Tesco.

Gururajan joined Branston in August 2005 as development engineer, from LG Phillips where he worked as a technology engineer.

He said: “I am looking forward to the new challenges of this role and furthering the work I undertook when development projects manager.

“This is an exciting time for Branston and expanding the department will enable the company to focus on its growth and ongoing development while, at the same time, meeting its environmental responsibilities.”

Branston has recently appointed a secondment development engineer and is looking to recruit a development co-ordinator.
