Stands highlighting the best of British produce and chef demonstrations will be on show
Foodservice wholesaler Brakes is planning a major programme of activity around British Food Fortnight to highlight the benefits of British produce to its customers.
Headlining the campaign is a Food Expo on 25 September, near Welwyn in Hertfordshire. The expo will feature more than 70 stands putting the spotlight on the Best of British, showcasing British Food Fortnight brunch ideas, and including chef demonstrations from Fresh Direct showcasing how to maximise British produce on the menu.
In addition, a British Food Fortnight section on the company’s website will provide recipe and food inspiration from Brakes’ development chefs.
It also features menu templates, seasonal calendars and has been updated to include links to all British products by category, so that customers can see at a glance the entire range of British products.
Paul Nieduszynski, chief executive of Sysco GB, said: “Providing the best of British when it’s available and in season is something we’re passionate about. Not only does it reduce food miles and support British farming, but it also means that we can provide the high-quality British produce that our customers demand.
“Across Brakes, Fresh Direct and other Sysco GB companies, it’s about supporting customers to deliver a greater proportion of British on the plate.”
