Fresh outbreaks in crops have been discovered close to Methwold, Hoveton and Downham Market in Norfolk, Heston and St Austell in Cornwall and Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire.

The rising numbers of blight clearly illustrate that conditions have been ideal for the development of the disease. The BPC is keen to remind all growers that if areas are left uncontrolled disease can spread rapidly and have severe consequences for growing crops.

Besides checking crops regularly growers should remember to check dumps and to destroy plant growth as soon as it is found.
