Booths backs British summer fruit

North-West regional retailer Booths has got behind English fruit this week with the first arrivals of cherries retailing alongside gooseberries.

Fine spring and early summer weather have ensured a strong cherry crop in terms of volume and quality and the offer at Booths will run through to the middle of August.

Along with the regional retailer’s long-standing cherry supply base around Faversham in Kent, Booths is also sourcing from a grower in the Hereford/Ross-on-Wye region for the first time this season.

Booths’s gooseberries are sourced from veteran Cheshire grower John Winsor.

Chris Treble, Booths fresh produce buyer, said: “Booths is proud to have stocked British gooseberries for the last 30 years. Consumers have only recently rediscovered their love for this versatile product.”
