The National Farmers Union (NFU) will back British Food Fortnight with three simple reasons to buy British.
Home-grown products are fresh, safe, and traceable, and buying British helps maintain the rolling pastures, hedgerows and traditional villages across the UK, according to the NFU.
The organisation is keen for consumers to enjoy local and traditional food over British Food Fortnight.
The awareness campaign, which runs from September 23 to October 8, will see thousands of promotional events across the UK.
NFU president Peter Kendall said: “British Food fortnight is the ideal time to highlight the range and quality of home-grown produce on offer. It would be great if consumers add just one additional product, grown or reared in Britain, to their shopping over the course of the next two weeks and explore the range of foods we produce here.
“British farmers d a great job in producing fresh, quality food, close to home, while delivering the British landscape. So support British Food Fortnight.”
