BerryWorld celebrated its 10th anniversary at Brocket Hall, Herts last week with guests from around the world.

At an afternoon seminar for 100 growers and suppliers chaired by BerryWorld director Laurence Olins, the firm’s technical and sales teams, as well as outside speakers, addressed delegates before 180 guests enjoyed an evening anniversary party.

Retail analyst Paul Smiddy, of investment bank RW Baird, predicted major supermarkets will be looking to expand the c-store sector while organic market growth will be smaller.

Paul Corrigan of retail analyst TNS reported soft fruit has shown the strongest growth across all fruit in the past two years.

He said 76 per cent of householders believe they should be eating more fruit and on average people are still eating only 2.5 portions a day leaving considerable opportunities for future development.
