Berry Gardens has unveiled its new state-of-the-art extension to its soft fruit packing house facility this week.

The leading UK soft fruit supplier has doubled the size of its packhouse in Kent, adding two new chill chambers, a larger loading area, new offices, and spacious staff facilities.

More than 70 full-time members of staff are employed at the packhouse, which is just outside Maidstone, and they are supported by local seasonal staff during busy periods.

Nicholas Marston, managing director, said:“The new packing facilities will increase our production capacity and efficiency which reinforces Berry Gardens’ leading position as a key supplier to UK supermarkets. As a soft fruit supplier we continuously strive to exceed our customer expectations whilst maintaining quality and service.”

Berry Gardens specialises in berries and cherries and is wholly owned by UK growers.

Over 40 years, it has grown to become one of the largest growers' group in the UK, with a turnover in 2012 of £200 million and a market share of 30 per cent.
