A leading sweetcorn producer is branching out with a new range of innovative prepared products.
Barfoots of Botley was at Food and Drink Expo this week to show off its new products, which include a roasted vegetable medley, prepared butternut squash, prepared sweet potato and a range of mashes.
Chris Moreman, commercial manager, said the West Sussex based company is preparing to open a new extension to its factory which would more than double the existing space and provide a high-care facility. “The biggest problem we’ve had in the past is lack of space, so the new factory will give us the capacity we need to add to our range.
“Our new products are aimed across the board, from foodservice through to retail. We’re trying to do as much added value as possible, we have no intention of sitting on our laurels” he said.
Another key line the company was demonstrating was its healthy food-on-the-go box, which features butternut mash, sweet potato mash and a corn-on-the-cob. “It’s aimed at the forecourt trade, you can just bang it in the microwave and it’s a healthy vegetarian option,” said Moreman. “We’re really just testing the marketplace with some of these products, but there has been a lot of interest.”
