The governor of the Bank of England has paid a visit to Branston.
Mark Carney visited the potato supplier at its Lincolnshire site on Thursday (16 July).
Carney was invited to Lincoln Cathedral as part of the celebrations to mark the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta, where he gave a speech that reflected on the enduring legacy of the Magna Carta and its relevance to the UK’s economy today.
En route to the city he called in at the Branston site to find out more about a successful local business and some of the initiatives Branston is working on to try and stay ahead in challenging times.
As well as taking a tour of the potato packing facilities, Carney met with key members of the Branston team, and he was able to see first-hand the scale and complexity of a major fresh produce business.

Our business has been continually evolving since 1968 and we’re continuing to invest heavily in people and technology to ensure that we provide the quality and innovation our customers need.

Branston supplies potatoes for retailers, wholesalers and some of the country’s favourite snack brands, as well as providing seed for potato growers.
