Prepared foods manufacturer Bakkavor has appointed two new non-executive directors, as the company pursues growth in the UK and internationally.
Denis Hennequin and Simon Burke have been added to the board,bringing with them a wealth of retail and food experience.
Hennequin spent most of his career with McDonald’s corporation in a variety of senior financial and operational roles before becoming president and chief executive officer for the firm's European operations. He was responsible for changing the image and concept of McDonald's in Europe according to Bakkavor and is currently serving as the non-executive director of Eurostar International, John Lewis Partnership and SSP Group.
Also joining the board is Burke, a chartered accountant with over 30 years’ experience in the retail and food sectors. He is currently a non-executive director of the Co-operative Group and the British Broadcasting Corporation, and was formerly CEO of Virgin Retail and Virgin Entertainment Group.

Bakkavor is the number one provider by value in 12 of the 16 categories of chilled food that it supplies, producing over 5,000 products in 18 different categories. Retailers such as Tesco, Waitrose and Asda sell Bakkavor’s products under their own respective brands.
