Back to school for Redbridge

Redbridge has won further National School Fruit & Vegetable Scheme distribution contracts for the start of the new school year in September.

It will supply a further 162,000 children in more than 1,400 schools from its brand new distribution centres in Bristol and Southampton, having already been awarded distribution contracts for the south-east and south-west England roll-outs of the nation-wide scheme.

The new term will see a broadened range of fruit delivered within the scheme, based on seasonal availability including strawberries, kiwifruit and carrots in addition to the original apples, pears, bananas and soft citrus offer.

A recruitment and training programme is underway at both depots in readiness for the autumn term.

"Redbridge is committed to supporting the School Fruit & Vegetable Scheme and 5-a-day drive, which is a valuable initiative for both the company and the community," said Redbridge account manager Richard Clements. "The success of our existing contracts in the north-east, north-west and West Midlands have been a major factor in helping us win these new contracts and we are delighted."
