Tomato segmentation: Azura's forte

Franco-Moroccan tomato supplier Azura has released its forecast for the upcoming season from Morocco. Volumes are likely to increase to 87,000 tonnes for marketing between mid-October and April next year. According to a statement volumes are rising to meet customer demand: “This increase concerns speciality tomatoes particularly, such as cherry, mini-plum, cherry-on-the vine, plum tomato, yellow cherry and so on. With 26,000t of speciality tomatoes, Azura is becoming one of the largest suppliers of these types in Europe.”

Each season the company re-invests in new equipment and research, which tests more than 300 new varieties annually. It has also doubled the size of its logistical base in Perignan to 8,000 sq m of temperature-controlled area to allow it to handle Azura citrus too.
