It was a victory for British growers this week as a collaborative fruit and vegetable display by Waitrose and the NFU won gold at theHampton Court Palace Flower Show.
The Celebrating British display, which was designed by award-winning garden designer Penny Riley, continued its recent success at the Chelsea Flower Show. The display is the third gold medal win for Waitrose and the NFU at Hampton since starting the collaboration three years ago.
With the display made up entirely of fruit, vegetables and flowers available at Waitrose stores, Sue Steptoe, the retailer's buying manager for horticulture, said she was delighted with the win.
“We are delighted to have won another gold and also very proud to showcase our passion for British fruit, vegetables and flowers. It’s great news that our display has been so warmly received, both at Chelsea Flower Show, and now at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.”
Meanwhile,NFU horticultural adviser Chris Hartfield said he was 'thrilled with the positive reception' and paid tribute to the growers who helped to produce the contents of the display.
