Sainsbury's has launched an investigation into reports of drunken behaviour at a staff party at the Celtic Manor Resort for the 2010 Ryder Cup.
A total of 700 of Sainsbury’s employees attended the event last week at the five-star venue near Newport.
It is believed that supermarket managers and staff from across the UK were at the hotel for a retail awards champagne reception and dinner, where one arrest in the early hours of Friday was made.
A Sainsbury's spokeswoman said the problems involved a "small number" and it was "extremely concerned by the reports," which would be investigated.
"We will fully investigate the incident and take appropriate action against staff, where necessary," she said.
