Creative cooks across the country are being invited to send in their favourite recipes for the National Bramley Apple Pie Championships, to celebrate Bramley Apple Pie Week, 14-20 October.

The Women's Farming Union has hooked up with Bramley campaigners to decide on the tastiest regional pie with heats commencing on October 7.

The winning dish will then be entered into the finals to be held at the Good Housekeeping Institute on October 17 and must impress a panel that includes English Apples and Pears chief executive Adrian Barlow. Entries will be judged on strict criteria, including taste and texture, and instructions for recipe presentation.

Regional and national winners can expect to recieve a mouth-watering £500.
