The National Farmers’ Union (NFU) has announced that Liz Falkingham will be its new director of communications from June.

Falkingham joins the NFU from her current role as Farmers’ Guardian editor and comes from a strong agricultural, commercial and communications background. Well-known to the industry, she is keen to take on the many challenges the NFU will present. Falkingham will replace Anthony Gibson, who is retiring after 36 years with the NFU.

NFU director general Richard Macdonald said: “We are very sorry to be losing Anthony Gibson, who has done a fantastic job for the NFU, latterly as our director of communications. However, we are delighted that we have someone of Liz Falkingham’s calibre and known qualities joining us.”
