The AI solutions provider said it was “thrilled” to make it on to the list of the 50 most innovative and fast-growing companies challenging the status quo in the Netherlands
Source.ag, the Netherlands-based provider of AI solutions for vegetable producers, has announced that it has been named an “MT/Sprout Challenger50” for 2024.
This list recognises the 50 most innovative and fast-growing companies in the Netherlands that are pioneering new approaches in their industries.
“These entrepreneurs reimagine existing business models and structures,” the company said, “innovating to empower customers to work more efficiently and contribute to making the world a better place.”
Source.ag’s advanced technology assists growers across the world to scale faster and operate more efficiently, boosting vegetable yields and creating more sustainable practices.
Today, according to the company, commercial greenhouses in 18 countries benefit from Source.ag’s solutions globally. These growers collectively produce vegetables for more than 60mn people worldwide, Source.ag said, a number that continues to grow.
“We are thrilled to be named one of the MT/Sprout Challenger50 honorees, recognised for our commitment to ensuring access to healthy diets for more people worldwide,” said Rien Kamman, co-founder and CEO of Source.ag. “This honour is shared with the dedicated growers and partners we work alongside. With their unwavering support and our common vision for the future of horticulture, Source.ag has been able to push boundaries and challenge the status quo continuously. We are committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions that empower growers to achieve more with fewer resources, driven by our pursuit of excellence in everything we do.”
This year, Source.ag was also recognised as the Startup of the Year 2024 in the AgTech Breakthrough Awards, as well as one of Linkedin’s Top Startups 2024.
As a provider of AI solutions for vegetable growers, Source.ag has committed to “pushing the boundaries” and delivering “cutting-edge solutions that meet the changing needs of growers worldwide”, according to Kamman.
“These AI solutions can simulate plant behaviour to determine and implement the best growing strategies, taking into account millions of data points on climate, biology and raw materials,” the company said. “By enabling growers to manage their facilities more efficiently with breakthrough technology, Source.ag makes greenhouse horticulture accessible, profitable and globally scalable.
“Source.ag uses AI to understand the growth and development of plants and support growers in their success. The company takes a hybrid approach that combines botany and data science to analyse the underlying biology and processes behind plant behaviour. In contrast to so-called ‘black box’ models, Source.ag’s approach offers transparency and robustness, and you need less data to start effectively.”
