German retailer Rewe Group is to drop its specialist organics food store, Vierlinden, according to reports in Germany, as it looks to focus on the newer organics and restaurant concept Temma.
Quoting German publication Lebensmittel Zeitung, Planet Retail reported that Rewe will move to discontinue its Vierlinden operations in the country next year, five years after the first store opened.
Of the five stores currently operating, one, in Aachen, will be converted to the Temma banner in spring 2011, with the other four outlets – located in Cologne, Dusseldorf and Munich – either sold off to competing retailers or converted to other Rewe banners.
Temma, an upmarket concept that was first launched in 2009, has produced satisfactory results so far, with a decision on further expansion to be taken next year, Planet Retail noted.
