More than 150 industry professionals took part in the second edition of the 360º Organic Experience Conference organised by Vitalis and organic certification company CAAE in Almería last week.
The event was a chanced to share knowledge and experiences and network with other professionals from the organics industry and strengthen commercial relationships within the sector.
Following a welcome address from Trinidad Cabeo of The Scientific-Tecnologica Park of Almería (PITA), Hans-Christoph Behr of AMI provided an overview of the key trends in the European organics market.
This was followed by a presentation on the importance of genetics in improving the sustainability and flavour of fruits and vegetables given by Manuel Díaz of the University of Almería.
Felipe Fuentelsaz of WWF Spain then took to the stage to outline the environmental challenge facing the agricultural industry.
Delegates then heard from two leading organic producers, G’s and Haciendas Bio about their vision and strategy for the organics market, and retailers Carrefour and GranBiBio, both of who are committed to increasing their organic offering to consumers.
Hailing the event as a huge success, Vitalis said: “We will continue working to promote spaces for debate that create value for the organic agricultural sector”.
