Apple producers belonging to France's National Association for Apples and Pears (ANPP), which manages the quality charter for integrated fruit production, have decided to communicate their good farming practices with the launch of a new logo.
The new logo, 'Vergers écoresponsables',aims to highlight the benefits of French apple production, environmentally, socially and economically.
The charter demands that the apples be grown in a way that is respectful of the environment and the workers, with total traceability and a view to the long-term sustainability of the sector.
The logo's launch comes on the back of a concerted effort by the ANPP to educate French consumers, with the main focus centring on growers' respect for biodiversity.
