The Board of Soil Association Certification Ltd (SACL) has announced the appointment of Steve McGrath as the new CEO of SACL.
Chair of the Board Anna Bradley commented: 'Steve brings an extraordinary breadth of relevant skills to the role. He has in-depth experience of leading and improving customer service for a wide range of companies, as well as leading and shaping business planning and process improvement across several different organisations.'
Mr McGrath has previously worked for British Gas, Group 4, HM Revenue and Customs, and the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
He most recently served as CEO of the Meat Hygiene Service (MHS), where, according to the Soil Association, he spent four years developing the organisation and integrating it into the FSA.
'This latter role has given him an understanding of, and engagement with, the agricultural and food sectors, and an appetite for working to support sustainability and the organic sector,' the Soil Association stated in a press release.
Mr McGrath is due to start his new role on 6 September.
