Cristina Mitre and Alma Obregón join the apple brand for Spain’s Carrera de la Mujer this autumn
Italy’s Vog consortium returns to Spain this autumn for the Carrera de la Mujer solidarity marathon in support of women’s health and rights.
Through its Marlene apple brand it is sponsoring two runners – pastry chef and athlete Alma Obregón, who has run 16 previous marathons, and journalist and podcaster Cristina Mitre, founder of the Mujeres que Corren movement and writer of El Podcast de Cristina Mitre.
The starting gun was fired on year’s Carrera de la Mujer on 25 September in A Coruña. Vog hopes to engage thousands of participants in the event with a range of actions planned for the Seville and Barcelona stages of the race.
On 9 October in Seville, Alma Obregón, the pastry chef who stars in the very popular Dulces con Almashow on Canal Cocina, ran in a Marlene-branded outfit. In addition to covering the race on her social media, at the end of the run, Alma met all the participants at the Marlene stand for photos, tips and autographs.
The first ten marathon runners to arrive at the stand who proved that they followed @alma_cupcakes and @marlenespain on Instagram, received a free copy of Alma’s latest book, ‘Repostería Tradicional. Recetas para recuperar los sabores de siempre’, focusing on traditional sweets.
The other key stage will be Barcelona, on 6 November, where Cristina Mitre will run in Marlene colours.
A journalist and the author of The Beauty Mail blog, she is also the writer and host of El Podcast de Cristina Mitre, named the most influential lifestyle podcast in Spain.
Mitre will also be at the Marlene stand after the race for a meet and greet with participants, and will be offering ten copies of her book on running entitled “Correr es vivir a tope de power”.
The journalist will also be responsible for creating some editorial content on beauty and nutrition related to outdoor training during the autumn months. Cristina Mitre’s tips will be the focus of a PR activity devoted to the press and consumer sites.
“For numerous consumers, Marlene is a symbol of quality, taste and well-being: we find these values in the Carrera de la Mujer and in the women chosen for this project,” said Sabine Oberhollenzer, communications manager at Vog.
“We are thrilled to associate our brand with professionals of this calibre. We immediately liked Alma Obregón because of the way she combines physical activity and passion for cooking, while we are returning to collaborate with Cristina Mitre following the success of last years’ initiatives and the enthusiastic response from the public.”
The project is being supported by an extensive PR campaign in the trade and consumer press, both before and after the event.
The participation of the two Marlene ambassadors in the Marea Rosa 2022 is announced on the Carrera de la Mujer channels and during the Sport Woman fair, which takes place on the two days preceding each stage. A large totem and flyers invite visitors to the Marlene stand and to follow the @marlenespain Instagram profile.
In addition to the stages in A Coruña, Seville and Barcelona, Marlene will also appear in Zaragoza on 23 October.
Health and sport were also the focus of the Nick Horta marathon in Barcelona on 2 October, where Marlene distributed apples to all participants. The event involved 1,200 adults and 150 children in a race that supported the Carrilet Educational and Therapeutic Centre, which provides assistance to people with autism and their families.
