With a focus on efficiency in transport and warehousing, Kuehne + Nagel have been included in a list of 25 stocks on the Swiss Market Index (SMI) Expanded Index with the best sustainability scores.
The index, named the SXI Switzerland Sustainability 25 Index measures a set of around 90 core and industry-specific indicators to determine sustainability.
Kuehne + Nagel CEO, Detlef Trefzger, said in a statement he’s firmly convinced that sustainable behaviour lays the foundation for economic success.
“Sustainability is therefore since long an integral part of our business activities. We continuously monitor and evaluate the economic, social and ecological impacts of our activities. The admission to the SXI Switzerland Sustainability 25 Index is both a confirmation and an incentive for us,” he said.
The company added that it utilises innovative technology, big data and predictive analytics to optimise the global supply chains of its customers, therefore helping them too be more sustainable.
Last May, Kuehne + Nagel began disclosing carbon dioxide emissions on all seafreight invoices, allowing customers to monitor emissions and better control their impact.
