The Cítricos Valencianos PGI has teamed up with three producers to launch the ‘Valencia Orange’ and ‘Valencian Clementine’ labels for the 2016/17 season. The premium brands will be officially launched at this week’s Fruit Attraction trade fair in Madrid.
Of the 44 varieties registered under the PGI, 16 orange varieties and 13 mandarin varieties have been selected for the new label, which will have even more stringent quality standards than the PGI according to Abel Alarcón, president of the new association set up to manage the labels.
José Barres Gabarda, president of the Cítricos Valencianos PGI, says the brands area designed to boost awareness of the high quality of the region’s citrus offer.
“They will be sold through a single marketing channel, Original Valencia, which is the only company authorised by the association to market these brands,” he explained.
The three producers involved in the project are Agrios Selectos, Germans Fuster and Tresfrut.
“Our commitment to quality and service has led us to collaborate with leading distribution companies in Spain and abroad. We have over 100 years of experience in the marketing of citrus and a packaging capacity of over 50,000 tonnes of fruit per campaign,” said Alarcón.
