In Daumeray, Maine-et-Loire, on the eve of the Salon International de l’Agriculture, the French minister of agriculture and fisheries, Michel Barnier, presented the Objectif Terres 2020, a plan for a new farming model whose aim is to 'produce more and produce better'.
The plan takes on board the need for agriculture to better utilise water resources, help maintain the ecological state of water, contribute to biodiversity, protect soils, and increase energy efficiency to fight climate change.
The Objectif Terres 2020 plan aims to reduce the use and impact of phytosanitary products, encourage every business to engage in sustainable development, develop organic farming, and put agronomy back at the centre of farming.
