Vers Top 100

Dutch organic fresh produce supplier Eosta has been named as the top company in this year's prestigious Vers Top 100, which every year provides a ranking of the Netherlands' hundred leading fresh food industry operators.

According to the judging panel which rated the companies in terms of their innovation, entrepreneurship, growth perspective and sustainability, Eosta was handed the award in recognition of its effective Nature & More sustainability and traceability system.

All organic products supplied by Eosta carry a stamp, which includes a specific code and picture of the relevant fruit or vegetable grower; by entering the code at the company's www.natureandmore.com website, the consumer can easily access the unique story of the grower as well as his social and environmental achievements.

'We are proud to have won such prestigious award. For us this confirms that sustainability and transparency have become a serious ambition of the entire sector,' explained Volkert Engelsman, managing director of Eosta.

'When buying products, more and more consumers are paying close attention to social and environmental values, which they may already have supported for a long time through membership of Greenpeace, WWF or Plan International. Our aim is to communicate the commitment and efforts made by individual growers for the environment and society, so that the consumer can make an informed purchase decision.'

Other companies making the first ten of the Vers Top 100 included Koppert Cress (2), Albert Heijn (4) and Friesland Campina (6).

Nature & More has also been named as a finalist by another prestigious Dutch award, namely the Dutch Marketing Institute's award for sustainability marketing.

Nature & More will find out on 25 November if it has won the award, for which it is competing alongside Oxfam Novib and Dance 4 Life.
