The Port of Antwerp has picked up an award at the World Ports and Trade Summit (WPTS) in Abu Dhabi for the second consecutive year running, this time being recognised for its environmental work.
The group landed the Environmental World Ports Award for 2013, holding off competition from Rotterdam, Los Angeles, Sydney and Gothenburg, having last year seen its CEO Eddy Bruyninckx win the WPTS Award.
The event was attended by more than 300 industry professionals and members of the International Association of Ports & Harbours.
'It is a great honour for the Port of Antwerp to receive an award for the second year running, taking home the WPTS Environmental Award,' said Bruyninckx. 'We consider this as recognition for the efforts that companies and public partners have made in the field of environment and sustainability.'
