French apple grower-shipper Cardell Export reports that its exclusive organic apple, Juliet, continues to make great strides, winning over consumers on the Asian market.
The group is planning promotional activities in countries across the region this season, according to managing director Daniel Corbel, in order to further stimulate sales of the variety.
Giant Juliet billboards currently overlook Ho Chi Minh’s wholesale market in Vietnam and will remain in situ until the end of June 2019, Corbel revealed. In addition, tastings are being carried out in supermarkets across the city.
“Thanks to its quality and traceability, Juliet continues its sales growth in Asia and consumers there are particularly taken with the variety,” said Corbell.
Meanwhile in Europe and the Middle East, competition is much stiffer than last year for French apples due to increased European crop volumes.
“Our export campaign in Europe is less dynamic than last year since each country’s apple volumes are plentiful, and buying locally grown apples is becoming a priority for European consumers,” said Corbel. “Meanwhile, overseas, competition is a lot tougher, especially in the Middle East.”
Nonetheless, Cardell Export will be out in force at this week's Fruit Logistica trade show in Berlin, showcasing its varietal range, including classics like Granny Smith, Golden Delicious and Royal Gala, as well as its specialist apples, such as Pink Lady and, of course, Juliet.
