Following six months of fundraising, the UK’s Soil Association has revealed that a bid has now been sent to Brussels for generic marketing funds for organic produce.

A decision is due in July to confirm if the EU will match funding for the campaign.

A total of £320,000 (€368,000) per year for three years was raised from over 70 pledgers, meaning that a £2m (€2.3m) campaign to promote organics may be on line for later this year.

“This amazing show of industry support endorses the enthusiasm and energy that exists to help the organic market back into double-digit growth as soon as possible,” the Soil Association said.
