Fruitnet’s brand-new event in Ho Chi Minh City explores every aspect of the booming Vietnam market
The agenda is now live for Fresh Produce Vietnam, which launches in Ho Chi Minh City on 13-14 May 2025.
The brand-new conference and expo event – organised by Fruitnet with official partner Asia Fruit Logistica – explores opportunities in one of Asia’s most exciting emerging markets for fresh fruit and vegetables.
Taking place at the deluxe Sheraton Hotel in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, Fresh Produce Vietnam features a full-day content programme on Tuesday 13 May packed with expert talks, presentations and interviews. Running alongside it is a B2B expo, enabling delegates to enjoy non-stop networking throughout the day.
Fresh Produce Vietnam kicks off with a high-level panel discussion exploring the nation’s fresh produce future. Home to a young, educated and increasing affluent population, Vietnam’s consumer market is set to boom. A major producer and exporter of tropical fruits, Vietnam also holds great potential as a supplier. A panel of leading industry figures discusses the key opportunities and challenges for the nation’s fresh produce business.
Vietnam’s consumer market is evolving quickly, led by its growing middle class, youthful demographic and a thriving digital economy. A spotlight on the changing landscape hears from consumer insights specialists who unpack the key trends in behaviour and explain how to market more effectively to the diverse demographic.
Turning the focus to imported fruits, the programme looks at the changing shape of the market in Vietnam. Market demand has broadened beyond only premium grades of imported fruit to include more value-oriented offerings. New categories such as cherries, stonefruit and berries are catching on with consumers. Distributors and retailers are moving beyond the major population centres of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi into provincial cities. A panel of experts discusses the future market evolution and the key challenges to capitalising on growth opportunities.
Food retail in Vietnam is still dominated by the traditional trade such as wet markets, but supermarkets are expanding their footprint. With major domestic and international chains pouring sizeable investments into expansion, a panel of top players outline their strategic plans and discuss the critical role of fresh produce in their stores. Leading brand marketers explain how they are partnering with these retailers to support category development.
Fresh Produce Vietnam also explores the nation’s evolution as a fruit and vegetable supplier and exporter. Vietnam’s fruit exports are enjoying boom times, fuelled by demand from China for popular products such as durian, bananas, dragon fruit and coconuts. A session on exports looks at the key challenges to sustaining the boom and the importance of market diversification and value adding.
Indeed, Vietnam can produce and export much more fruit if it can attract the right investment and modernise its production base. In the final session, case studies explore projects to professionalise production from the ground up and build more sustainable business models.
With a mixture of lively sessions in a shared conference and expo area, Fresh Produce Vietnam enables delegates to connect with top buyers, suppliers and service providers and tap into a wealth of established expertise and new talent.
Delegates can enjoy non-stop networking opportunities throughout the event, including an evening cocktail on Day One.
Day Two (14 May) offers a programme of organised visits to top supermarket outlets in Ho Chi Minh showcasing some best-in-class examples of food retail in Vietnam. Delegates can also take part in a tour of the city’s bustling Thu Duc Wholesale Market.
