Australian-bred plum to hit shelves in Western Australia across summer with exports bound for Asian markets
WA Farm Direct has welcomed the start of the 2025 West Australian Queen Garnet plum season with fruit distributed to Australian and international stores from early January.
The health benefits of the Australian-bred dark-skinned plums with deep red flesh are highly touted, providing consumers with a stand-out experience throughout the summer months.
Queensland-based Nutrafruit, which holds the global licence to manage the production, marketing and processing of the PBR (plant breeder’s rights) protected variety. WA Farm Direct exclusively distributes the plum in Western Australia.
The global licence allows Nutrafruit to work exclusively with partners and develop unique products with high degrees of protection and quality assurance. WA Farm Direct said the 2025 season would begin early, with the first West Australian harvest commencing early January 2025.

Nutrafruit will export a significant portion of the upcoming crop to markets across China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, and other South-East Asian countries, with an estimated 500 tonnes expected to be shipped from throughout Australia.
