Freshmax has announced its sponsorship of the Bully Zero Australia Foundation, launching a televised campaign featuring the Sumo Citrus mandarins.
The animated video uses the Freshmax-marketed fruit to tackle bullying, with the aim to engage consumers on both a healthy and ethical level, the group said.
The Sumo Citrus mandarin season runs for just six to eight weeks, with the first fruit to hit retail shelves along the country’s East Coast and South Australia around 27 July.
Exclusive to Woolworths, the 2015 crop is estimated to double last year’s volumes and reach more than 50,000 trays.
The large, seedless, sweet citrus originated in Japan more than 40 years ago when a grower combined California oranges with Japanese Satsuma mandarin.
