Around 1,300 tonnes of Ambrosia apples set for Australian shelves in 2025
Montague Farms welcomed the opening of the 2025 Ambrosia apple season at the start of April with a quality crop on the way.
This season’s harvest follows an excellent 2024 and Montague Farms said it expects another strong crop to be produced by more than 100,000 trees, spread across 40ha Australia-wide.
“Following a phenomenal 2024 season, the Ambrosia 2025 crop is exhibiting excellent quality. The bite is crisp as ever. One of Ambrosia’s key characteristics is a super light texture, and this season’s crop both melts in your mouth while still having a satisfying crunch,” said Montague Farms in a release.
“In terms of volumes, this season estimates 1.3mn kilograms (1,300 tonnes) of Ambrosia picked, which is healthy for the crop.”
Montague Farms is working with award-winning cookbook author Alice Zaslavsky to showcase the apple. Zaslavsky has recommended a couple of culinary pairings for Ambrosia to consumers and also noted that it is just as tasty on its own. “The refreshingly aromatic Ambrosia doesn’t require anything done to it to make it delicious,” said Zaslavsky.
