Children visiting Woolworths stores across Australia will have the chance to pick up a piece of fruit for free as the leading Australia retailer rolls out a new national programme.
The ‘Free Fruit for Kids’ will be launched at Woolworths stores nationally in coming weeks, following a successful trial in South Australia, and a programme at its Countdown stores in New Zealand.
“We’ve been overwhelmed at the success of theFree Fruit for Kidspilot scheme in South Australia and the positive response from parents and kids,” Brad Banducci, Woolworths Food Group MD said in a company statement. “Free Fruit for Kidsis not only a great way to encourage healthy eating habits but also an easy way to keep the little ones occupied while shopping.”
Clearly marked fruit baskets holding fresh seasonal fruits will be on hand in-store as what Woolworths has said is its commitment to help children eat the recommended two serves of fruit each day.
