Global kiwifruit marketer Zespri has outlined its support of First Lady Michele Obama's plan to use the White House garden as a way of highlighting the connection between the quality of food and the health of children.
In the wake of the launch of the First Lady's new book American Grown, Zespri has revealed that it will be rolling out initiatives throughout the year to help galvanise the healthy, fresh eating movement in the US.
'It is our responsibility to make sure we do everything we can to help America’s youth be as healthy and fit as they can be,' said Michele Hoard, senior marketing manager of Zespri North America. 'Zespri is the largest kiwifruit marketer in the world and hopes to leverage its position to help mobilise the First Lady's healthy, fresh eating movement.
'By encouraging the public to eat nutrient-rich diets and exercise daily, we are supporting the First Lady’s initiative and hope to significantly reduce the obesity epidemic in the US,' Hoard added.
Zespri will, over the next 12 months, promote different health and fitness tips, publish new health studies and findings, provide creative and healthy recipes for each season, and promote the importance of eating fresh fruit and vegetables.
