Consortia VOG and VIP expect good quality and consistent volumes of their yellow-skinned apple this season
Yello, the sweet, crunchy, yellow-skinned apple from the VOG and VIP consortia, is back on the shelves as of 29 October.
Good quality and consistent quantities are expected this season, ensuring availability of Yello on key markets like Italy and Germany, as well as other European and non-European markets.
“Because of its unique characteristics for the yellow-skin segment, Yello is a premium product dedicated to consumers that love top-quality apples,” explained Hannes Tauber and Benjamin Laimer, marketing managers of VOG and VIP. “Thanks to its positioning, it can now count on a loyal customer base and promising levels of demand on the market.”
The variety of Yello is Shinano Gold, a cross between Golden Delicious and Senshu, which benefits from an excellent shelf-life and very consistent quality.
Originally from Japan, Yello was born at the foot of the Hida Mountains, known as the Japanese Alps, before finding a home in the valleys of South Tyrol thanks to the expertise and experience of South Tyrolean apple growers at VOG and VIP.
