Mercedes Iborra receives award in the #ScaleUp category at the #WomenStartupAwards 2024
Mercedes Iborra Broseta, co-founder of VisualNacert, has won the #ScaleUp category award at the #WomenStartupAwards, in recognition of her innovative project that facilitates the production of sustainable food through the use of technology.
The winners were announced at a gala organised by the Spanish Association of Startups and the Yellow agency, which took place at Madrid’s Coliseum Theatre this week.
The VisualNacert platform allows farmers to access advanced tools to optimise the management of their crops, promoting the production of healthy food with minimal environmental impact.
Founded ten years ago by Iborra and her sister Lucía, VisualNacert’s mission is to transform agriculture through the use of advanced technology to create a more sustainable future and a cleaner planet.
“This award is not only a recognition of the work of our company, but also of the importance of putting agriculture in the media spotlight, giving it the relevance it really needs,” Iborra said as she received the award.
“What is really important about this type of distinction is to Transcend, that is, to value the agriculture that feeds the world and recognise the effort of all companies that invest in technology and the digitalisation of the agricultural sector.”
Having seen first-hand the challenges farmers face, Iborra identified an opportunity to transform crop management. “With my training as an agricultural engineer, I realised that technology could offer key solutions to improve efficiency in the sector,” she said. “Our platform seeks to provide farmers with accurate, real-time data, allowing them to make more informed and sustainable decisions.”
The VisualNacert platform allows users to access detailed information on the status of their fields, including alerts on pest risks and adverse conditions. Using satellite images, sensors and real-time data, the platform facilitates more efficient and sustainable decision-making.
“This award is also a tribute to all the professionals who innovate in the sector, to those who, with their efforts, make a more responsible agricultural future possible,” Iborra said.
