Hotels and restaurants across the Spanish capital, Madrid, will be taking part in the country’s first Vegetable Week, which will see a greater number of menus feature Spanish-produced fruits and vegetables.
The initiative, which is being staged between 15-23 October to coincide with trade fair Fruit Attraction, will take place in multiple locations across the city, with specially-created tapas and dishes being offered to diners.
Several outlets have also committed to providing a special fruit and vegetable-themed breakfast, lunch and dinner menu designed by Fruit Fusion, Fruit Attraction’s parallel event which is aimed at the food service sector.
Organisers IFEMA said in a statement that it was confident that Vegetable Week would act as a promotional campaign for the Spanish fresh produce sector by showing consumers the importance of eating an adequate amount of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis.
