The Chilean Avocado Importers Association (CAIA) in the US is organising a line-up of consumer-driven contests and promotions designed to remind US shoppers of the “versatility and goodness” of Chilean Hass avocados during the coming months.
The US market expects to import almost 77,000 tonnes (or nearly 170m lbs) of Chilean avocados this season – a growth of 25 per cent in comparison to last year, according to CAIA.
To help move the increased volume, the association’s new marketing campaign will roll-out in early September.
“Our marketing plan this year is more diverse than ever before and we are using many different communication channels to reach consumers,” said CAIA’s marketing director, Maggie Bezart, in a press release.
“Social media is also going to have a big role in just about every single one of our promotions. It’s where consumers are… and that’s where we want to be!”
The marketing drive will consist of several high-profile campaigns featuring social media and advertising activities.
A full report will be published in the August/September issue of Americafruit Magazine.
