The Peruvian Hass Avocado Producers' Association (ProHass) expects the industry to produce 70,000 tonnes of the fruit this season, 95 per cent of which will be exported.
ProHass will use the strapline 'Delicious Hass Avocados' promoting the variety in the UK, France and – for the first time –Germany.
The campaign is designed to highlight the quality, taste and season of Hass avocados and will associate itself with the revival in Peruvian cuisine worldwide and include in-store and outdoor tastings.
Arturo Medina Castro, general manager of ProHass, said: 'This is an important part of our strategy of building new markets for the fruit.'
In the UK, promotional labels will feature on packs of Peruvian avocados in supermarkets during the month of July, depending on retailers.
Sampling at UK retailer Morrisons will take place on Friday 8 July, followed by the distribution of information and recipe leaflets in some Tesco stores on 14 July, 15 July, 16 July and 17 July.
Outdoor sampling will also take place in the UK on 14 July and 15 July in London and on 16 July in Leeds.
In Germany and France, where the campaign is focused on in-store sampling and PR activities, tastings will be held almost every weekend until mid-August.
In addition, there will be a promotional event at the Rungis wholesale market in France on 21st July.
