Univeg Katope hospital visit Faitrade Fortnight

Leading Fairtrade fruit grower and importer (excluding bananas) Univeg Katopé UK has entered into the spirit of Fairtrade Fortnight by making a donation of fruit to patients of the Amazon children's ward at the Peterborough & Stamford NHS hospital in Peterborough, located in the East Midlands region of England.

According to the group, the donation included oranges and soft citrus from Egypt, pineapples from Ghana and table grapes from South Africa, as well as posters, leaflets and stickers, while the children created their own Fairtrade Fortnight display.

Staff and parents were also interested to hear the real-life stories of how Univeg's Fairtrade projects are having a positive effect on the local communities involved.

'We hope that the children will enjoy the fruit and understand the benefits of being healthy, whilst at the same time learning about Fairtrade,' said James England of Univeg Katopé UK.
