Univeg Katopé UK has reported on a successful campaign to raise consumer awareness of selected niche exotic fruits.

According to the group, the campaign was part of a promotion with a leading UK supermarket which was conducted in the north of England throughout June.

Each week the campaign featured a different fruit – the first week was pomegranates, followed by Sharon Fruit, coconuts and finally Passion Fruit – with promotional leaflets situated instore providing fruit facts, nutritional information, serving suggestions, and preparation tips for customers.

Post promotion data indicated the activity had been a success. Over the month, value growth on these lines had risen by 253 per cent with volumes rising by an equally impressive 238 per cent against standard levels of demand.

Univeg Katopé account manager Laura Gorsanova said: 'The supportive leaflets adopted in this promotion definitely inspired shoppers to try these products, helping build their confidence about fruits that they would have not necessarily bought.'
