A group of Brazilian fruit growers and exporters have joined forces to form a partnership designed to advance the country's fresh produce industry.
Brazil Fresh Produce is dedicated to developing new export markets and is seeking new and innovative ways to maintain and enhance Brazil's status as a key supplier of high-quality fruit.
The alliance involves growers and exporters of apples, lemons, melons, papayas, mangoes, grapes, bananas, avocados, figs, ginger and pineapples, and was created with the goal of uniting Brazil's producers, processors, packers and exporters.
February's Fruit Logistica event in Berlin, the world's largest trade show for the fresh produce industry, will mark the formalisation of the group's partnership.
At the event, exporter members of Brazil Fresh Produce will be meeting with their existing trading partners as well as trying to cultivate new business relationships under the slogan ‘Brazil: A Place for Growth'.
Among the group's exporters are Agrícola Famosa, Agrícola Fraiburgo, COEX, Fischer, GBI, Intermelon, Itacitrus, Itaueira, RBR Trading, RBR Fresh Fruit, Renar and UGBP, which between them exported over US$100m worth of produce in 2009.
Brazil Fresh Produce is devoted to increasing the presence of Brazilian fruits in both traditional and emerging markets around the globe, the organisation said in a statement.
