French tomato specialist Tomate Jouno has launched a new tomato variety known as the Sweetcarpaccio, which was revealed for the first time at Fruit Logistica in Berlin.
According to the company's Sylvie Hochart, the new variety is “a ribbed Marmande-style tomato with great taste potential”.
The company has also shifted the focus of its communication onto the consumer, placing 2D codes (or ‘flashcodes’) on its labels to allow consumers to access various details about its products via a Smartphone.
Available information includes details of the company's insecticide-free production methods and various tomato-based recipes.
